FASHION PORTRAITS PHOTOJOURNALISM CONTACT

Philip Meech is an experienced UK based freelance photographer, currently working from his studio in East London. With a background in press and photojournalism, he now undertakes commissions for a wide range of clients, including fashion houses Prada, Miu Miu and Yves Saint Laurent.

In the 1990’s, Philip studied for a degree in photography at the University of Westminster in London, quickly gaining recognition thanks to successes in the Observer/Hodge Young Photojournalist of the Year Award, and The Guardian Student Media awards.

Upon graduation, Philip won the prestigious traineeship with The Independent newspaper, and continued to freelance on the paper for a further seven years. During this time, he started to build up a substantial client-base thanks to his growing reputation and undertook commissions for other newspapers and magazines, as well as design and advertising agencies.

A long term project to document the Prada and Miu Miu fashion shows, for Rem Koolhaas' Rotterdam based architectural and creative studio OMA/AMO, has lead recently to the publication each season of the highly regarded Prada Fantasy Lookbooks. These combine Philip's photography of each collection with graphic design and artwork from Ippolito Pestellini, Fausto Fantinuoli , Lok Jansen, Jeroen Koolhaas and Alexander Reichert. The resulting images also feature in Prada's Fantasy Motionbooks, directed by James Lima.

An exhibition featuring these works is currently showing at the Fashion and Textile Museum in London .
